| Solar Eclipse June 10, 2002 |
| Monday, 10 June 2002 02:57 |
|
On the late evening of June 10th, 2002, there was a partial solar eclipse visible from my area here in west Texas just before and during sunset. I have never captured images of an eclipse before so I thought I would give it a try. I was rather pleased with my results, given that all I had to use was a Sony Digital 8 Camcorder. I used a pair of UV sunglasses as a filter in some of the images, and manually adjusted the contrast on the camera down to almost the last setting. The below images were my results. I think they came out good given what I had to work with. I should mention that these are NOT video frame captures. This camera also has the ability to snap digital pictures to a memory stick, and it was this feature that I used to capture this event.
The sun was setting with some clouds in the west leftover from some thunderstorms over in eastern New Mexico. This would normally have made for a great sunset anyway, but with the eclipse going on made it even more spectacular! |
